What Firmware?
Whats the difference between Custom Firmware (M33
/ CFW) and Official Firmware (OFW) ?To put it simply, Custom
Firmware, is identical to Official Firmware, however it is a modified
version of the official firmware, made to have extra features and
functionality.
Here is a list of Features that Custom Firmware gives you, over
having Official Firmware.
> UMD Backup to Memory Stick
This allows you to "backup" your games to your memory stick, allowing you
to load and play games stored as ISO/CSO
'disk images' that are stored on your memory stick.
No more carrying around your game disks with you.
What is an ISO/CSO disk image?
This is a file, the type of which is ISO, which is a single file containing
the entire contents of a Disk/CD, in the PSP's case, the UMD Game Disk. A
CSO file, is a Compressed ISO file, which means the file size will be
smaller than the standard ISO file.
Downloading ISO/CSOs from the Internet or copying ISO/CSO disk images
from others, to which you do not own the original copy of the game, is
illegal.
> Region Free / Multi-Region Support
Ability to play games and videos of any region, on your PSP.
> Homebrew
Run Homebrew apps and games on your PSP.
And many more features, however these are the main benefits of custom
firmware.
Custom Firmware, is not Official, so if you wish to have an
'Official' copy of the Sony Firmware on YOUR PSP, and you are not
interested in the features provided by having Custom Firmware, please
select an OFW option when ordering our Bricked PSP Repair Service.
